Parley — Terms of Service

Version 1.0 — effective 2 November 2026. These terms apply from that date. If we make a material change, we tell you in the app before it takes effect.

The short version

Parley is a noticeboard. It shows you what other people have and what they want, and lets you arrange to trade with them. That is the whole of it.

That summary is a courtesy, not the contract. The clauses below are the contract, and they are what you agree to.

1. Who these terms are between

These Terms of Service are an agreement between you and Parley, the operator of the Parley mobile application ("Parley", "we", "us", "our").

2. Eligibility — you must be 18 or older

You must be at least 18 years old to create an account and use Parley. By creating an account you confirm that you are 18 or older. If we learn that an account belongs to someone under 18, we will close it.

You may hold one account. You are responsible for everything done through your account, including anything done by someone you let use your device.

3. Your account

You agree to give accurate information when you sign up and to keep it accurate. You are responsible for keeping your password and your device secure. Tell us promptly at [email protected] if you believe your account has been accessed without your permission.

You can delete your account at any time from Settings, inside the app. Deletion removes your profile and your listings; it does not remove records we are required to keep, and it does not cancel any trade you have already agreed with another user.

Your personal data is not governed by these terms. Our Privacy Policy is a separate document and it governs how we handle your data. Nothing in these terms limits any right you have over your personal data under Singapore's PDPA, the GDPR, or any comparable law — and no term here should be read as trying to.

4. What Parley is, and what Parley is not

Parley is a venue. It displays what users say they have, and what users say they want, and it lets users contact each other to arrange a trade. Nothing more.

Specifically, Parley:

When you agree a trade with another user, your agreement is with that user. If they do not honour it, your remedy is against them. It is not against us, and we have no ability to compel them.

5. Trades happen off the app

Parley is used to find a trade and agree a trade. The trade itself is completed in person, off the app: you hand over a card, they hand over a card or cash, or some combination.

Because the exchange happens away from Parley:

A trade on Parley is between two people acting privately, not with a business. Nobody here is a "trader" selling in the course of a trade or profession, and Parley is not a shop. The consumer protections that attach to buying from a business therefore do not attach to a trade you arrange here — which is the position of any private card swap between two people, and it cuts both ways: you carry the responsibilities of a private seller too.

6. We do not verify anything

Parley does not verify, confirm, check, authenticate, grade, or vouch for:

And we guarantee none of the following. You should not treat any of these as promised by us:

Parley is not an authentication service and not a grading service. A card appearing in Parley, and a user appearing in Parley, means only that someone typed it in. If authentication or grading matters to you — and for valuable cards it should — use a recognised third-party grader or authenticator, or a professional dealer, at your own cost. Do not treat Parley as either.

Any card images, card data, prices, or set information shown in the app come from third-party sources and are displayed as-is. They may be wrong, out of date, or incomplete. Parley is not a valuation service, and nothing in the app is financial or investment advice.

The checking is yours. Because we verify nothing, you must make your own enquiries about anyone you trade with and anything you are offered — who they are, whether the card is genuine, whether they have the right to sell it, and whether the deal is one you want. Carry out whatever investigation you consider prudent before you hand over a card or money. We do not do it for you, and we are not responsible for what you did not find out.

7. No escrow, no buyer protection

Parley does not offer escrow, payment protection, buyer protection, seller protection, or insurance of any kind. We cannot and will not reimburse you.

If you hand over cash and receive nothing, or receive a card that is not what was described, Parley cannot get your money back or your card back. We can act on the account — see clause 11 — but we cannot act on the transaction. Do not treat any action we take against an account as recovery of what you lost.

8. Assumption of risk — trades happen face to face

You are solely responsible for, and you assume all the risks of, trading through Parley — including every online and offline interaction with another user, the card you receive, and the money you hand over.

Trades arranged through Parley are completed face to face. That carries risks Parley does not control and cannot reduce for you. You accept those risks when you choose to meet someone.

What we strongly advise, and what our partner stores provide:

Being blunt about it: someone you meet through Parley may try to defraud you, or to harm you. That is a risk in any marketplace where strangers meet, and we cannot remove it for you.

Where we suggest you meet is a recommendation, not a guarantee. We do not inspect, supervise, monitor, or staff any meeting place — including a partner store — and we do not promise that anywhere we suggest is safe, suitable, or in the condition we expect on any given day. A store's own rules and its own staff are the store's, not ours. We do not verify the safety of any meeting place, and we are not responsible for what happens at one.

You assume the risk of meeting another user. Parley does not supervise meetings, does not provide security, does not verify that a meeting place is safe, does not screen users, and is not responsible for what happens when users meet.

9. Prohibited items and conduct

You may not use Parley to:

Offering a proxy or counterfeit as genuine is the fastest way to lose your account permanently.

10. Your content, and the licence you give us

You keep ownership of the content you put into Parley — your listings, your card photos, your profile, your messages.

You grant Parley a worldwide, non-exclusive, royalty-free licence to host, store, reproduce, display, and format that content for the purpose of operating the app — showing your listing to other users, showing your card in your store's roll, and so on. This licence ends when you delete the content or your account, except for copies we are required to retain, and except for content other users have already seen or acted on.

You confirm that you have the rights needed to post what you post, and that your content does not infringe anyone's rights and does not break the law.

We may remove any content, at any time, for any reason — in particular anything that breaches these terms.

11. Reporting, blocking, and moderation

Parley has zero tolerance for objectionable content and for abusive users.

We review every report, and we act within 24 hours — removing the content and closing the account where the report is upheld.

If we act against your content or your account, we tell you why. We tell you what was removed, suspended, or closed and the reason for it. We state that here rather than leaving it to our discretion: platforms of our kind are required to give a reason, and we would rather it be a promise we have made than a duty imposed on us from outside.

If we come across a suspected criminal offence that threatens someone's life or safety, we report it to the police or the relevant authority. We will not warn you first, and your consent is not required.

How we moderate. Reports are reviewed by a person. We do not run automated takedowns that remove listings without human review, and we do not profile users to decide who gets suspended. This clause — the report path, the block path, the contact address, and the response commitment — is the whole of our moderation policy, and it is published openly at parleytrade.com/terms.

We are not able to review everything posted before it appears, and we do not promise to. We are responsible for acting on what is reported to us, which we do. We are not liable for moderating content, or for deciding not to moderate it.

This clause is the policy behind the tooling: zero tolerance for objectionable content and for abusive users, a filter, a report path, a block path, and published contact information.

12. Store accounts

A partner game store may have visibility of the cards recorded against its store — that is the point of the store roll. Store staff are not Parley, cannot change these terms, and cannot act on Parley's behalf. Nothing a store employee tells you about a trade changes anything in these terms. A store may have its own rules about conduct on its premises, and those apply to you while you are there.

13. Fees

Parley is free to use today. We do not take a fee or commission on any trade.

If we introduce a paid feature or a fee later, we will tell you clearly before it applies to you, and it will never apply retroactively. Nothing in these terms obliges you to pay us anything for the features that are free today.

14. Availability, and what we do not promise

Parley is provided "as is" and "as available". We do not promise that it will always be available, uninterrupted, secure, or free of errors, or that any listing, user, or card information in it is accurate. We may change, suspend, or discontinue any part of the app, including features you rely on, and we may do so without notice where we need to.

We do not promise to keep any listing, message, or image available, or to store your content indefinitely.

15. Limitation of liability

To the fullest extent the law allows:

You release Parley from claims between you and other users. To the fullest extent the law allows, you release Parley and everyone acting for it from all claims, demands, and damages — known and unknown — arising out of or connected with any dispute you have with another user, or with any third party you meet through Parley. That includes claims of negligence. It does not cover our own fraud, or anything else that cannot lawfully be released.

Nothing in these terms excludes or limits any liability that cannot lawfully be excluded or limited — including liability for death or personal injury caused by our negligence, our own fraud, our gross negligence, and our wilful misconduct. Some jurisdictions do not allow certain exclusions, and where that is the case, the exclusions above apply only to the extent permitted there. Nothing here affects your statutory rights as a consumer where those rights cannot be waived.

16. Indemnity

You agree to indemnify and hold harmless Parley and its operator, officers, employees, and agents from any claim, loss, liability, cost, or expense (including reasonable legal fees) arising out of or connected to: your use of the app; your listings and content; any trade or arrangement you make with another user; any meeting you attend; your breach of these terms; or your breach of any law or of anyone's rights.

17. Suspension and termination

We may suspend or close your account if you breach these terms, if we are required to by law, or if we reasonably believe your account creates risk for other users or for Parley. Where it is practical, we will tell you why. You may stop using Parley and delete your account at any time.

Clauses that by their nature should survive termination — including 6, 7, 8, 15, 16, and 19 — continue to apply afterwards.

18. Changes to these terms

We may change these terms. When we do, we will publish the new version in the app and update the version number and date at the top. If a change is material, we will ask you to accept the new version the next time you use the app, and you will not be able to continue using Parley until you do. Continuing to use Parley after a non-material change means you accept it.

The version you accepted, and when, is recorded against your account.

19. Governing law and disputes

These terms are governed by the laws of the State of Oregon, United States, without regard to its conflict-of-laws rules. You and Parley agree to the exclusive jurisdiction of the state and federal courts located in Oregon for any dispute arising out of these terms, except that either party may bring a claim in small-claims court where it qualifies.

Nothing in this clause prevents you from relying on mandatory consumer protections available to you where you live, where those cannot be waived by agreement.

20. Apple and Google — additional terms

Apple. If you obtained Parley from the Apple App Store: this agreement is between you and Parley alone, not with Apple. Apple has no obligation to provide maintenance or support for the app. Apple is not responsible for any claim relating to the app, including product-liability claims and claims that the app fails to conform to any legal or regulatory requirement. If the app fails to conform to an applicable warranty, you may notify Apple and Apple may refund the purchase price (if any); to the maximum extent permitted by law, Apple has no other warranty obligation. Apple is a third-party beneficiary of these terms and may enforce them against you. You confirm you are not located in a country subject to a US Government embargo, and are not on any US Government prohibited-party list.

Google. If you obtained Parley from Google Play, your use is also subject to the Google Play Terms of Service, and Google is not a party to this agreement.
